This conversation takes place in our office every week and daily in homes around the Country. Life as we know it stops dead in its tracks when you or someone you love sits face-to-face with the news of a life-threatening diagnosis.

More personally this was a conversation I lived with when a beloved family member faced a life changing diagnosis. The loss is still ripe with sudden moments of deep ache and sadness punctuated by a need to make it all mean something …be something …contribute something more that may make a difference to one other person or a family who is navigating this uncharted territory.

Meryl Streep said, "it’s amazing how one person dies and the whole world seems empty."

Some Experiences Leave Us Forever Changed

My brother was a big force. He didn’t come into the world soft like a spring rain and he didn’t exit any more gently. His journey on earth was volcanic, colorful, adventurous and bold. Why should his transition be anything other? Living life with such boldness often comes with a price that may include feelings of: injury, loss, achievement, acquisition, understanding, betrayal, anger, resentment and sudden spiritual insight.

Our Mom died when she was only 51 years and me and my siblings were in our early years of adulthood. Innately I assumed a mother/sister role with my younger brother and our rich love was entangled by deep conflict, –fraught with competition, loyalty, fierce stubborness and passion for life.

Vincent’s journey of reckless abandonment left him in the hospital with broken bones, ribs, internal bleeding, Hep C, Cirrhosis, Diabetes and more. He was stitched up, sewn up and sent back out to pasture so many times we all knew him as the man with more lives than most of us dreamed possible. Most of these incidents would have left many with a much earlier demise but his faith in what he knew to be God and his ability to find a way when he was told there is none was undeniably other worldly.

I loved this about him and I hated this about him. I wanted him to live. I wanted him to be on this journey with me for as long my life would last.

A year ago we realized we were soon to loose him and we gathered at Christmas to have a living memorial and tell him while he could see us, hear us and hug us how much his life impacted ours and how much he was loved.

30 days later he was still with us and I asked him if he wanted to live or leave and he said, "I WANT TO LIVE!" Okay then I said, "here is what I am offering you….Come live with us in our home and I’ll assume full care of your health and treatment. All I wanted from him was to give it 100% no matter what. He said, YES!"

I’ll never forget the day my sister-in-law delivered him to my office. He shuffled. His breath was labored and his eyes had lost the twinkle. Most of the time he just was dead awake.

The next 60 days I loved him well. We loved him well. I put together a small team of family members who were willing to believe health and healing were possible. I turned over every stone I found and we lived and breathed the 5 levels of health and healing model. From bone broth to raw and Family Constellation therapy to healing touch. We diced, drank and left no stone unturned as we sought the right combination of remedies, therapies, treatments and protocols that would bring him into a world of the healed and healthy. And we won.

Day by day his energy returned. He went from not being able to walk to baby steps and from baby steps to stair steps and from stair steps to steps across the room and then one day around the block.

He was engaged again. He began to dream and envision and hope and he smiled for the world to see and I celebrated each and every success and clawed my way out of despair when we hit a road block or a setback and then 60 days later he went home. This was longest he had gone without having to go to the emergency room for blood transfusions or emergency paracentesis. We celebrated life and we sent him home to continue the journey surrounded by the things he loved most.

While I no longer could monitor his daily activities, I not only had to pick up the pieces in my own life, I slowly began to see him return to his old habits…Let’s face it kicking cancer, disease, pathology or any life threatening diagnosis in the ass is an uphill climb. It takes a village. It requires tenacity, vision, hard work and a plan. He just wasn’t able to keep it going. It was easier to order a pizza than prepare life giving meals and it required commitment and energy to take daily enemas, healing treatments, meditate, exercise and breathing visualizations. It also took money. Every decision was between paying out -of -pocket for care or using the benny card for meds. A choice of a $35 co-pay for the liver doctor or $200/hour for the alternative practitioner.

Eventually mainstream won out. Before I knew it he had a team of "Liver Experts" representing the finest, smartest, most technologically advanced in the United States and he surrendered to their direction. He chose to be their patient and abandoned all and everything we did up until that time.

His life became a daily struggle for a next breathe, a next draining, a next dialysis as his kidneys failed, a next intubation as his lungs filled and I wept. In the beginning I was just angry. I just couldn’t stand to see him struggle. I was filled with pain and rage and helplessness and powerlessness. My heart hurt from the minute I opened my eyes until the minute I closed them and everything in between.

I heard his Team of professionals declare "He was doing Well"…."he was making progress" .."he was stable"…he was going to be fine and yet my naturopathic trained senses told me a very different story. I observed all the signs I had been taught….the quality and tone of the skin, the nails, the tongue, the eyes and the breath and I saw fatality. Yet, I also keenly understood the Biology of Belief and how that impacted the dis-ease process. One day I brought myself to my favorite sanctuary and I asked for guidance. I asked for help in letting go and Letting God. That day I decided I would no longer see death or dying. I would no longer feel the deep despair of powerlessness. I would no longer give him subtle clues of my deep disappointment in the turn of events. That day I decided to just be LOVE. I decided to appreciate the team of doctors and nurses and care givers who believed in a different way. I decided to love on him with foot rubs and neck rubs and storytelling and essential oils and the healing truth of unconditional love. I just hugged him with my every breath and I stood present to each and every procedure, needle, oxygen, dialysis, blood draw, they would offer him. I did it with total surrender to the path he told me he wanted to walk and I did it with a loving heart.

On February 2, 2015 we say "we walked him home." He called me that morning from his hospital bed where he had been for 3 long months and he was having trouble breathing. He asked if I would come. I quickly dressed on a snow covered frozen morning and arrived at his room to find him surrounded by a team of well meaning doctors. We were ushered aside and told….we were nearing the end and…they could make him comfortable. I did not want to be afraid and I did not want him to see my fear of loosing him. I sang hymns and Christmas songs and Willie Nelson and James Taylor that I knew were his favorites. I brushed his hair, held his hand and read from his Bible the 23rd Psalm…."The Lord is My Shepherd…." I annointed him with the essential oils he had come to love and I watched him breathe his last breath and then we sat for hours….unable to leave…unable to say farewell….unable to let his hand go for the very last time and I wept.

To Chemo or not to chemo….to cut or not to cut….to go alternative or traditional I understood in the days that followed was not the only question to be asked or answered. The question that also needs to be asked is How Can I serve best? How can I be present to my loved one in this moment? What can I offer that will help them most.

It was and is a difficult journey. I don’t regret one thing I did. I don’t regret trying to help him heal naturally and I don’t regret aligning myself with his wishes to take a conventional approach. I don’t regret loving him.

If you find yourself in a similar situation I hope in some small way this personal experience can offer you at least a glimpse into our struggle….our path…..our loss and our love.

As part of our in-take process for all new patients we have a question that reads:

Please Comment about your past health care experience, and future expectations, feelings and intent

A patient wrote, (printed with permission)

"My experience with traditional medicine (except in emergencies in which cases I have always felt grateful for their expertise) has been that doctors have been close minded as they have been unable to go outside of their “box” and it is frustrating that no matter how much experience they have or even how newly out of med school they are, they and their med schools have neglected whole areas of investigation. The doctors I have dealt with will not consider anything alternative outside of their medical and pharmaceutical world. It seems to all be about only getting rid of symptoms, AND probably I am where I am now is because I have not regularly gone for checkups. With the clinic doctors at my hospital in this particular case, they are nice but there is a lot negativity and not a lot of support and/or hope unless I were to do exactly what they say. They become impatient with my questions and either look at me like I’m crazy or shake there heads “no” (whether they have heard of something or not) when I bring up something that does not hold medical truth in their world. With a diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer metastasized to the liver I will soon be dead (between now and a year as most people only live a year and if I am one of those few EXTREMELY lucky people there is a VERY slim chance of making it to 5, IF I stop all of this foolishness and do what they say (chemo immediately). When I suggested that I might not want to do chemo, I was met with head shaking and/or silence as if I am committing suicide an sorrowful looks. I have just in the last few days decided that I definitely do NOT want Chemo. I have not told them this. They are thinking that I will be showing up for my first chemo appt next week. Medical professionals and friends have said, “Why not just do both?” But I don’t want to weaken my body and inhibit it from doing its job. To me it becomes a break-even affair instead of accomplishing real healing… AND I really, really believe to my core that healing is possible for me… not just a painful extension of life – waiting to die. I want to work with people who believe this and who will guide and support me…and not think of me as crazy. We are all going to die and NONE of us knows when… I could get hit by a car tomorrow and die which would have nothing to do with cancer. I refuse to live my life by statistics, probabilities and what reports say which is why I have not looked at my medical reports and did not want the doctor to tell me how long I had to live. I hate that he and all are treating me as if I am terminal. We have all been terminal since the day we were born. Reports and statistics don’t take individuals, God, Spirit, Soul and what we are outside of the physical into consideration…

We are all here for a reason to make a difference and to learn… When we have fulfilled our mission this time around then we move on…"

As a natural health care practitioner the journey I took with my brother allows me to be a better doctor. I am willing to stand in the fire with my patients but I am no longer held hostage by their life or their death. There is freedom to be found in both.

They taught me the body was a self-healing –self-organizing system and when we have a healthy nervous system the body had a better chance to correct any underlying imbalances. Because of my early experiences, I always felt Chiropractic was for much more than treating pain.

Many are surprised to learn that a chiropractic adjustment addresses something called "subluxation." That is a big word that means "loss of light." Many more are surprised to learn in addition to biochemistry the body also has an electromagnetic component. These are not separate systems but different sides of the same coin.

Therapies like acupuncture and electro-therapies treat and evaluate according to the electro magnetic principles of the body.. My experience is optimal health and healing requires BOTH!

In 25 years of practicing, nothing leaves me feeling more helpless than having a patient in pain that I couldn’t help. I am talking about the kind of pain that interferes with your ability to brush your teeth, drive a car, walk your dog or go to work. These are patients of every age. Many of them have been to numerous doctors–have tried the muscle relaxers, physical therapy, pain pills, Advil and even mood elevators with little or no success! They are people like you and me who only want to feel better–get back to work — play with their kids or hit a golf ball again.

Through the years I’ve had moderate to good success with helping people in pain. Moderate success is not good enough. There were far more that suffered and I lost many nights sleep thinking, researching and studying new possibilities.

I have experienced pain. I can remember how debilitating and diminished I felt. It almost felt shameful to have someone help me to the bathroom, help me dress or fix me my meals. Many live in chronic pain everyday of their lives. Others have had acute accidents or trauma that left them feeling like there were not many choices other than potentially addictive medications which carry many toxic side effects.

When I first saw the Dr. Oz show on pulsed electromagnetic field therapy I was relieved to learn of a non-invasive, non-toxic and often fast acting therapy that was now available in the United States. I began to look at and experience several devices to learn their differences and their applications. I met many who experienced quick and lasting relief with many of them but I still had not found the device that was right for my patients at raSa health.

You see, many of my patients are chronic Lyme disease patients ridden with not only pain but the complexities of mold, heavy metal and environmental sensitivities. Their pain is often a chronic, fibromyalgia-type of pain. Others are athletic types who put the pedal to the metal every time they compete, there are those who just "got out of bed the wrong way" or helped their friend move over the weekend and now can’t move them self and ,of course, my seniors with arthritis and aging knees with chronic pain. I needed a device that would help all of them and that wasn’t easy to find.

In May, I attended Dr. Klinghardt’s "Healing Your Brain Conference," in New York City and many of my colleagues were buzzing about the great relief they experienced from one treatment on a high voltage PEMF device also known as cellular exercise. I was not in any pain but I was exhausted from a grueling 3 day intensive and I thought I would give it a try. Wow! 20 minutes on this super battery charger and I felt like I could run a marathon.

In fact I did one better and embraced a bucket list item to complete my first Triathlon. PEMF – Cellular exercise treatments were part of my training and I am happy to say I not only finished but I actually placed in a time I did not imagine possible.

For the next week I couldn’t get this experience out of my mind so I decided to put this device to the test. I invited my friends, family and patients with the most debilitating pain to come in for demo treatments. Much to my amazement every one of them experienced relief. Some — 50% but many more 100%. Now, I was even more excited.

I then decided to go to a practitioner’s office who was using the same device, running it 6 days a week and has a 2 month waiting list. I spent two days watching patients with frozen shoulder, sciatica, neck pain, bone on bone knee pain, fibromyalgia, autism and farmer’s with a bad wrist, hand and back. These patients not only got the relief they hoped for but they smiled after every treatment and gladly paid the practitioner as they walked out the door ready to engage in their daily busy lives. They were just glad to be helped and grateful to return to their busy lives.

We have over 75 trillion cells in our body. They provide the structure for the body, take in nutrients from food, convert those nutrients into energy and carry out specialized functions. Not many folks think about the cells as electrical devices–but they are. The cell membrane is the outside shell of the cell. It is very thin, ranging fro 3-8 nanometers The cell membrane is a chemical and electrical insulator. The inside and outside of the membrane hosts a pH differential. The pH differential creates a voltage, or electricity. This electricity is the power source for many essential functions in the cell membrane. Anything that compromises the cell membrane power is a probable cause or co-factor in cellular malfunction. Compromise of either the cell membrane quality or the transmembrane pH differential inhibits the electrical functions of the cell, and prevents optimal cell function. When cell membrane power is down due to lipid toxins, pathogens, or pH imbalances cells just don’t work. When cells don’t work, the body doesn’t work.

In "Emerging Electromagnetic Medicine" by M.E. O’Connor, we learn of the latest research findings in the field of electromagnetic radiation. The book discusses the use of electromagnetic fields in diagnostic and therapeutic medicine. It describes the theoretical concerns and actual mechanisms involved.

  Consider this:

There are three main aspects of cell-membrane power production:

1. The lipid substrate–must insulate the inside and outside and not leak power (we need healthy fats)

2. The pH diferential–must be balanced to enable electricity, just like a car battery (PEMF Cellular exercise)

3. Raw Materials– must be present to create chemical and electrical structures needed for the cell to work. (proper nutrition)

Individuals exposed to PEMF, or electromagnetic therapies, exhibit often striking recoveries, when energetics restore cellular immunity. PEMF exposure increases tissue oxygen availability through a variety of means, likely resulting i improved tissue oxygentation which enabled healing which would not have been otherwise possible.

PEMF on Pathogens

One study suggests pulsed fields assert differential effects on pathogens cells versus a host cells. While mammalian host cells tend to absorb pulse energy and use it, parasitic organisms, that lack energetic resonance with the host, experience stress.

PEMF & EMF (Electro-magnetic fields)

Every week we receive calls from patients who tell me they can’t leave their homes and even some are living by candlelight as to reduce all exposure to electromagnetic radiation . Many cannot use a computer or a cell phone because the symptoms become unbearable. There is a new patient emerging. This is how Dr. Klinghardt described the 2013 patient at the Healing of the Brain Conference in NYC:

Daytime episodes of inappropriate physical and mental fatigue and lack of zest. Difficulty sleeping, waking unrefreshed. Difficulty with short- term memory, concentration, word finding, mood swings, decreased assimilation of new information. Strange neurological symptoms: vibration, sounds, tingling, numbness, cranial nerve dysfunction (vagus, vertigo, tinnitus, blurred vision) General feeling of weakness, with shortness of breath after brief exertion, increased heart rate Body aches joint pains, exercise intolerance Sinus problems, sore throats, light sensitivity, “floaters”, cough Difficulty regulating body temperature, sometimes with night sweats and general coldness Increased thirst, but “water runs straight through”, increased urination, light urine color

Some have coined this electroplague. http://electroplague.com/

How does PEMF affect people with EMF sensitivity?

Mark Squibb describes it this way: Individuals with electrically weak cells tend to be more sensitive to pulsed fields because their cells respond more readily to both beneficial and harmful radiation. They tend to gain energy rapidly from pulsed fields which supports cellular metabolism. Likewise they tend to resonate with harmful radiations Use of pulsed magnetic fields tends to decrease sensitivity to detrimental electromagnetic radiation by strengthening the native bio-field.

There is a strong tendency for people with poor cell membrane integrity to be significantly more sensitive to electromagnetic radiation than individuals with high cell membrane integrity and optimal membrane power. Weaker cells naturally absorb energy from wherever they can, including from stray electromagnetic sources. Electrically weak individuals are more sensitive than electrically strong individuals.

The difference between beneficial and detrimental exposure boils down to the tendency for an exposure to impose an unnatural resonance pattern on the cell or on the body. The unnatural resonance disrupts the natural biological processes which require the natural harmonics to operate optimally. In other words, electromagnetics which draw tissues away from their natural harmonics induce disturbances which may to disrupt cellular or systemic function.

This is why cell phones (MHz), and power lines (60 Hz) tend to produce discomfort in certain individuals. These individuals generally lack the ability to resist stray harmonics, and the stray harmonics draw them into an unnatural resonance.

I’ve always believed that nature holds the key to many of our questions. Flowers need the energy from the sun and water, plants need the same and guess what– Humans need energy too!

If you want to prove that electromagnetic emissions have an effect on living systems, try putting a mouse in a microwave.

Can Lyme Disease be Cured? https://rasahealth.com/2012/10/can-lyme-disease-be-cured/ https://rasahealth.com/2012/10/can-lyme-disease-be-cured/#comments Fri, 05 Oct 2012 13:14:22 +0000 http://rasahealth.com/?p=2003 Continue reading ]]>

This is a question I am often asked. Having a diagnosis of Lyme myself I have given this a lot of thought. Cancer is said to be “cured” if a patient remains asymptomatic for a period of 5 years. Does asymptomatic equal cured? What is cured?

With my own diagnosis my goal is to focus on feeling well and living well. I don’t really think about finding a cure for Lyme as much as I think about finding my wellness point. Two thoughts cannot occupy the same space at the same time. If you have the thought “ I have Lyme,” you cannot at the same time be thinking, “I am well.”

At raSa health I have patients who come in with diagnoses of everything from Thyroid disease to Cancer and Lyme disease to headaches. I do not treat the diagnosis. I do treat the person who has the diagnosis. In fact, I treat the wholeness of that person. In the 5 levels of health and healing model adapted from Dietrich Klinghardt, M.D., I recognize my patients are much more than their physical bodies. They also have an energy body, a mental body, an informational body and consciousness.

When I care for a patient with a diagnosis of Lyme disease, I treat beyond the symptoms. I treat the system. Lyme disease is no longer one infection. Richard Horowitz, M.D. renamed Lyme disease “MCIDS. Multiple Chronic Infection Disease Syndrome. There are multiple layers to Lyme disease and there is no one herb, antibiotic, tincture or remedy that can address each and every one of them.

A common thread I see in those of us with a Lyme diagnosis is we have multiple issues on multiple levels to varying degrees. Each patient must be addressed according to their uniqueness. The healing comes when we can identify the level the original wound appeared and begin the unwinding through each of the levels affected. This is different for each of us. Lyme is not “cured” by an antibiotic. The symptoms may be reduced but the Lyme Disease is NOT cured. Just like cutting off a cancerous breast doesn’t cure the cancer or if you abandon a child doesn’t mean you are not a parent.

The cure is a process. A journey of life itself. The cure is not found on the highways or the freeways of life…but more likely to be found in the ditch or the pothole. Those patients who are willing to look at the potholes and get down under their own hood and assess the damage, the corrosion, the rust, and dents are the ones who often “find the cure.”

Killing bugs doesn’t create a cure anymore than war brings about peace or darkness brings about light. There are several steps in our approach to caring for a patient with a diagnosis of Lyme disease.

Step 1

Accept that Lyme or whatever diagnosis has come into your life is there for a reason. It is a messenger. We never benefit from killing the messenger.

Step 2

Recognize that Lyme may not be only affecting your biochemistry and physiology but also your energy body, your mental body, your informational body and your consciousness.

Step 3

Be willing to look under the hood. Assess the damage. Ask the tough questions. Where in my life is there a wounding that is asking to be healed. Where in my life does resentment need to be replaced with forgiveness or worry and control asking to be replaced with faith and surrender.

Step 4

Get a plan. Just like you would get an estimate to have your auto repaired we need an estimate and a plan to return to our wholeness.

Step 5

Ask yourself does my plan include:

Immune modulators

Anti-microbials

Repairing the biochemistry

Rebuilding the physiology

Detoxing and unloading the system

Removing and mitigating the offending electro-magnetic, dirty electricity and geopathic stressors

Healing the trauma

Is there a cure for Lyme disease? This is how the dictionary defines “cure.”

n.

1. Restoration of health; recovery from disease.

2. A method or course of medical treatment used to restore health.

3. An agent, such as a drug, that restores health; a remedy.

4. Something that corrects or relieves a harmful or disturbing situation: The cats proved to be a good cure for our mouse problem.

5. Ecclesiastical Spiritual charge or care, as of a priest for a congregation.

In my 10 years of working with patients who have a diagnosis of Lyme disease, the difference between those who were “cured” and those that weren’t is listed here. Those who

  1. Had the ability to embrace the idea that recovery was possible,
  2. Followed a course of treatment,
  3. Corrected their harmful or disturbing situations and
  4. Found their spiritual charge.

Is there a cure for Lyme disease is not the question I would ask. Instead, Is there a cure for a broken heart? A wounded human being? A confused physiology? Yes! Yes! Yes! There is a cure. There is a cure for all human beings because we are not human beings but spirits being human. And spirit has only one cure.

The cure is always Love.

I Can’t Sleep in My House!

In the Fall I love to take my heavy blankets to the laundry mat and get everything fresh for the season. I met Bob there. He was doing his weekly laundry at the same time and he told me that he had been sleeping in his van for the last two weeks because his home was flooded after the hurricane, and the mold was making him sick.

As it turns out not everybody has friends and family they can turn to when they are down on there luck. I started thinking about several patients of mine who told me they could not live in their home because their house too was making them sick.

These homes aren’t shacks with leaky roofs. They’re homes like yours and mine. If you think mold only grows in damaged uncared for homes you couldn’t be more mistaken. It happens in every kind of home…..big, small, new, old, expensive and not.

With symptoms like sneezing, sinus congestion, headaches, coughing, allergies and breathing difficulties I couldn’t help but wonder why so many millions of people need Claritin just to get through the day. Did many of these people have an undetected mold issue?

Some people know they are allergic to mold, yet they may not realize that mold is growing in their homes and workspace. Mold is not visible to us until it creates a super-colony of fruiting structures. Mold spores are microscopic. We cannot see mold spores in the air, even when there are tens of thousands of spores in each cubic meter of the air surrounding us.

Did you know mold thrives everywhere from 30,000 feet in the air to the deepest mine in the earth? Author and mold expert, Edward Close, Phd. writes that mold can survive without air, in freezing or boiling hot environments and grows from the tropics to the Arctic. It is one of the most successful life forms on earth right up there with insects and bacteria. Because mold is so ubiquitous, people think it is harmless. He said, “exposure to toxic mold is the most commonly overlooed underlying cause and/or aggravation of many health problems.” Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker, author of Mold Illness and Mold Warrior calls mold related illness Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome from Water-Damaged Buildings (CIRS-WDB).

I’ve seen first hand how mold affects human health. The fatigue, vertigo, sore throat, sneezing fits. Memory loss and flu-like symptoms can be debilitating. Just what is it about mold that affects us? Two aspects stand out: spores and mycotoxins. Both can be airborne and both can cause allergic reactions on the surface of the skin and inside our bodies. They can grow inside nasal passages, sinus cavities, bronchial passage and lungs.

There is so much to know about mold and biotoxin illness that I have decided to offer a one-hour teleseminar to talk about just that. In the meantime, I offer you some suggestions here. There are two things to consider. The mold in your home and the mold in your body.

What you can do for the…

Mold in your home?

FIRST: Professional Mold Sampling
Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI. http://www.ermimoldtest.com/ermi_dna_mold_testing.asp offers several advantages over traditional mold screening methods. Carpet dust acts as a reservoir for mold spores and is more representative of mold levels over time versus traditional short term air samples (Park et al., 2006). Further, the use of a DNA-based method for this test allows for increased precision of mold identification .

SECOND: Diffuse the Thieves Oil Blend

After Sampling is completed, the next step is to diffuse the Thieves oil blend continuously (non-stop) for a minimum of 24 hours in the room or rooms where you have mold. Determining how long to diffuse is related to how serious the mold infestation is.

The recommended cold-air diffuser is very easy to set up and clean. Anyone can do it. No special skills or training are required.

THIRD: Clean with the Thieves Household Cleaner
After sampling and diffusing have been completed, then clean areas with visible mold using the Thieves Household Cleaner (it contains the Thieves oil blend). Use appropriate protective equipment. The absolute minimum required to address mold is the following: I’ve made a short video of how we worked with my neighbor.

1 Bottle of the Thieves Oil Blend -15 ml
1 Thieves Household Cleaner
1 Cold Air Diffuser

After diffusing is completed, clean visible mold and stains with the recommended Household Cleaner, undiluted. Use protective equipment and take precautions to avoid contact with and breathing mold spores while cleaning. Even dead mold spores can cause allergic reactions, so protective equipment is highly recommended.

Mold in your body?

FIRST: Begin to treat yourself and your family members.

A favorite of mine is the propolis vaporizer. Propolis is a resinous mixture that honey bees collect from tree buds, sap flows, or other botanical sources.

It is widely know for its anti-microbial, immune modulating benefits. Propolis attaches to mold spores and is amazingly effective in neutralizing mold spores and harmful bacterial in the home. We have them available in our wellness store.

SECOND: Foods to Eat

  • Eat only freshly prepared low-glycemic fruits (peeled) and vegetables.

  • Eat protein: including meats and fresh fish.

  • Drink bottled water. Tap water contains mold. Try to drink distilled or reverse osmosis water as it retains the good bacteria in the digestive tract.

  • Try to avoid chemicals and additives such as hormones and antibiotics.

  • Avoid all grains, and all processed/packaged foods.

  • Freshly cooked brown rice is safe. Soak with a little Vitamin C before cooking.

THIRD: Attend my Free Teleseminar

“Could MOLD be your Problem” Tuesday, October 25th. We’ll look at how mold affects us and learn some simple and effective treatments to consider. Meet me there & bring your family and friends.

Heart Rate Variability – a useful tool https://rasahealth.com/2011/09/heart-rate-variability-a-useful-tool/ https://rasahealth.com/2011/09/heart-rate-variability-a-useful-tool/#comments Wed, 21 Sep 2011 18:14:15 +0000 http://rasahealth.com/?p=783 Continue reading ]]> Our second level is the “Energy body” or “electromagnetic” level.

EEG, EKG and EMG are some of the common tests you may be familiar that measure the electromagnetic energies in the body. One of my favorite tools I use is called , Heart Rate Variability (HRV). HRV is a simple 6 minute test that gives us a window into the patient’s Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). The ANS is responsible for every function in your body from blood pressure regulation to digestion and heart beat to immune response. When I measure a person’s HRV it gives me a good indication of where that patient is on the health continuum. Here is a 6 minute video I found which gives a simple but thorough explanation. Heart Rate Variability Health is a relative term. Some patient’s tell me they are “healthy,” yet, they are on meds for heart burn, blood pressure and insomnia. A truly healthy person does not need to take medications to regulate these functions. HRV shows a graph of what a physically fit and optimal ANS looks like. In my 8 years of doing HRV, I have only seen two patients who registered at this level.

The other insight I glean from this scan is the patient’s emotional health. We view this through a set of numbers known as the SDNN. When the SDNN numbers are low, we must look deeper into the patient’s emotional history. Just yesterday, a 47 year young woman came in with symptoms of depression, weight gain, fatigue and chronic gut issues. As soon as we did her HRV (more info at Emotion Regulation Lab) I asked her about what was going on in her life. Her eyes immediately filled with tears as she talked about her families struggles with job loss, financial stress, her dad’s passing and her youngest son was just brought to the emergency room for appendicitis. As soon as she was able to speak about it, there was a change in the room and in how she was breathing. We have a long way to go, but using a 5 level model will allow us to create a care plan that goes way beyond supplements and detoxification. This patient needs help navigating these emotional waters. We have the tools to do that and we have many supportive resources to offer her. Healing at this level takes a lot of commitment on the patient’s part. It’s simple; but it’s not always easy.

What are the 5 levels of health & healing? https://rasahealth.com/2011/08/5-levels-of-health-healing-blog/ https://rasahealth.com/2011/08/5-levels-of-health-healing-blog/#comments Wed, 31 Aug 2011 22:02:25 +0000 http://rasahealth.com/?p=215 Continue reading ]]> The 5 levels of health is a model which organizes health and healing into the physical body, energy body, mental body, information body and consciousness. The idea of 5 levels of health is not new. There are many ancient references to the idea that we are more than our physical body. The work I do is a contemporary application of these ancient principles coupled with the usefulness of modern technology and clinical application. I was introduced to this model through the work of my mentor, Dietrich Klinghardt, M.D, Phd. www.KlinghardtAcademy.com The Taittiriya Upanishad describes five bodies or sheaths called koshas that “cover” or contain our higher consciousness. The koshas constitute layers, or veils, that operate at different levels, always circling ever outward from the inner self. These five layers or sheaths of consciousness are usually depicted as originating with the most material kosha and transcending to the most ethereal.

An alternative view is that the koshas emerge from the highest vibratory or spiritual state, or the blissful level, and then shift toward the most material level. While the energies shift from subtle to material, the material then climbs again to subtle. Thus, the koshas can be viewed as constantly operating on both a microcosmic and macrocosmic level. In our model, the 5 levels also shift one to the other, interdependent, each influencing the other. You might say we began as “consciousness” or spirit and was then birthed into the physical only to return to consciousness. Others believe we began as physical and are meant to return to the spiritual. (spirit.) It’s safe to say….no one knows for sure. There are many mysteries yet to be fully understood on each of these levels. For me, that is part of the wonder.

How can you stay healthy through this model? https://rasahealth.com/2011/08/test-blog-post-2/ https://rasahealth.com/2011/08/test-blog-post-2/#comments Wed, 31 Aug 2011 14:38:16 +0000 http://rasahealth.com/?p=38 Continue reading ]]> Recently, a female 42 y.o. patient came to me. She is underweight, malnourished, fatigued with a constant headache that prevents her from enjoying life, her 2 young children and it has caused some marital discord. In addition, she has chronic lyme disease and has spent thousands of dollars and seen some of the top specialists in the Northeast. She has made little to no progress and has become depressed and anguished at the idea of living life feeling so badly. Using our 5 level model, I immediately knew we wouldn’t make much progress by only focusing on the physical level. She has been doing just that for years. At one time, she was taking 35 different supplements per day, was eating only raw and worked out 3 times a week. She experienced marginal improvement. She said she was sick and tired of doing all these treatments and nothing was working. I knew immediately we had to look at a different level. Using the NES (nutri-energetics system) the scan showed an issue around profound loss, family, & deep woundedness. As soon as my patient saw the results her eyes filled with tears and she told me she had lost both her father and mother within the past 3 years. Her mom’s passing was sudden and unexpected and she still had deep sadness and guilt over the unhealed relationship she had with her mother when she died so unexpectedly The NES system is based on the idea that Information and Energy Control Biology http://www.hunterdonholisticcenter.com/more_nes The NES analyzes your body-field and identifies any problems. The scan revealed where in her biofield the energy was stuck. The concept is simple. Imagine the body as a computer. The body’s cells and body parts are like hardware. This has been very well studied by Western Medicine over the last 100 years with little current understanding over what actually controls the body. What has been ignored is the body’s information system or its ‘operating system’ and ‘the energy’ (or software) needed to run the system. She said this was the first she was able to “tell the truth” about her pain and sadness in a very long time. Once we begin to work our way through this “pain journey,” she will be able to heal enough to free the energy for her “physical” body to begin to respond. We have a long way to go but the prognosis is favorable and we are moving to a “cure” not a “coverup.”

  • Have you been diagnosed with an Autoimmune Disease?
  • Do you suspect you may have a Thyroid disorder?
  • Are you frustrated by the current options for health that seem to focus on drugs and surgery?
  • Do you want to find the root cause of your symptoms?
  • Do you find yourself thinking…"If there’s nothing wrong, why do I feel so bad?"

At raSahealth, "our passion is health because your passion is living!"

Imagine this…

  • A Doctor that listens
  • A Doctor who embraces a Functional and Holistic approach
  • A Doctor who brings 25+ years of experience to every patient she treats
  • A health care experience that embraces the body, mind & spirit

Health means more than taking a multi-vitamin and eating 3-squares a day.

There was a time when this was a sufficient plan. Not anymore. Due to the insults to our water, food supply, soil and daily toxic exposures nearly everyone can benefit from daily detox and mineral support. Holistic health focuses on the system and not the symptoms. I became a Chiropractor because having an "adjustment" always made me feel better. My chiropractor was knowledgeable about fitness, nutrition and wellness. Tools like Applied Kinesiology and Autonomic Response Testing help our patients uncover hidden dis-ease patterns. They also identify the proper nutrition, optimize detoxification pathways and address methylation issues, as well as identify food allergies and integrate wellness and lifestyle strategies that are customized for their unique needs

Imagine a doctor who really listens.

Imagine working with a practitioner who combines the best of: Chiropractic, Biological, Bio-energetic and Functional Medicine

Beginning with a new doctor is a big step. Watch Dr. Sharon as she shares her approach at raSahealth .

  Success Stories - L. Roberts (female, 37)

I came to Dr. Rasa through a friend I met in Pilate’s class. I felt as though my thyroid was swollen and I just couldn’t loose weight even though I was running, doing pilates and following a whole foods diet. My Doctors said, "your lab tests are normal." Then Dr. Rasa ran a comprehensive profile and we discovered I had an autoimmune disease called "Hashimoto’s." It took a while to help me balance my thyroid through detoxification other lifestyle changes and I learned I needed to talk about the things I was holding inside. She also helped me find my “gratitude” I had misplaced a long time ago.

- O. Connally (female, 36)

When the doctor’s kept telling me my blood work is “normal”…my blood pressure is” fine,” I knew I needed another way. Their suggestion for anti-depressants was not an option. Using Autonomic Response Testing, Dr. Rasa found I had a root canal which harbored an infection and was responsible for the many UTI’s and bladder infections I had throughout the last few years. She referred me to Dr. Oras and together they helped me get better. I haven’t had a urinary tract infection in 4 years!

- B. Brooks (female, 52)

I was being treated by a physician for lyme disease and several coinfections but I still felt pretty miserable. I decided to compliment what I was doing by using alternative therapies. I learned about the work of Dietrich Klinghardt, and found that Dr. Rasa studies with Dr. K and offers many of his protocols. I have been working with Dr. Rasa for the past year and I feel like I can think again, the brain fog has lifted, I am able to work and I have hope I will get well again. Thank you Dr. Klinghardt & Dr. Rasa!

- G. Pierson (female, 46)

I think I would be dead if I didn’t find Dr. Rasa one year ago. I was 100 lbs overweight, and suffering with chronic fatigue, a mouth full of mercury and a body full of toxins from years spent at racetracks breathing in the exhaust fumes. I told her she was my last hope, the last doctor I would try to get help from. I was tired of being alive and I didn’t know where to turn. She changed my diet, all of my personal care products and she helped me detoxify slowly. When she told me about family constellation…I thought that was the last thing I would ever do. I’m so glad I did. Now I am living again, I want to fall in love and have a family.

- K. Robillo (male, 36)

I’ve been seeing Dr. Rasa for 8 years. As a teacher, I stand on my feet for hours each day and have a long history of back pain. I fell off my horse several times throughout my life and didn’t want to stop riding but I also didn’t want to be in pain all the time. I go for chiropractic and cranio-sacral treatments twice a month with Dr. Rasa and I’m able to keep riding and stay away from pain pills. Dr. Rasa is always there for me. She has seen me on her days off and even came to my home to treat me. I bring my whole family to her and I trust her most of all.

-P. Conte (male, 41)

My game is golf and running. My style is fast & competitive. I hate going to any doctor and then I met Dr. Sharon after I tripped and strained my hamstring and glutes so bad I couldn’t sit for longer than 5 minutes. I had a tournament in 4 days and I was really upset. 1st visit for the Sports & Spine Spa package and I was 80% better. 2nd visit. 100% gone. I not only participated in the tournament I placed better than my previous game. If you are looking for something that works…you have to do this!

D. Rubin (male 39)

I had two root canals extracted and was disturbed to see the amount of infection that has been residing in my mouth for at least 8 years (coincidentally, the same amount of time I have been experiencing lyme symptoms). I wanted to express my gratitude to you because if you hadn’t ART tested both as blocked, who knows how long they would have stayed in my mouth. Today I am grateful, lighter, and so much better mentally than I have been in nearly 2 years.

A small gift from me to you! 3 strategies for anxiety, pain and increased energy.
